Thank you for an absolutely fantastic concert at Bochum.
Most of the audience had not seen you before but you captivated everybody by your lovely music and your charming personalities.
As Sabine said, "You touched our hearts!"
What higher praise can there be?

Holger Arntz, Germany

"Time flies and once again we made the now annual pilgrimage to Hilldale to see this Scot abroad and his Danish girl. A capacity audience was treated to another superb evening and this is one package, not wrapped in plastic, where two is even better value than one. We were promised an evening of Scottish music but what we got was an eclectic international journey where you couldn't see the joins. We travelled far and wide, from Peru to Australia via Palestine and the Netherlands, and back in Scotland enjoyed both high and low roads from Aberdeen to the Solway Firth via Loch Lomond. This Lord of the Dance and his River of Time Lady certainly rang our bells. Wonder what lyrics they sang to pass the time on the long road home? Only Remembered? Not only were we summoned by those bells and soothed by a lullaby but we got the wonderful mix of traditional, contemporary and contemplative lyrics and music we have come to expect from this polished pair. Along with a generous measure of humour and some quiet remembrance of those no longer with us. Thanks Steven and Pernille for another fine evening. You will be back!"

Christine Aspinall, Stalybridge, UK

"Spotted Stephen & Pernille were doing a rare gig in England so headed over to Hilldale on 15th March for what proved to be a superb evening! Enjoyed a wide repertoire from the comical "Let's Recycle" to the poignant "River of Time" with everything in-between. As a "follower" of the McCalmans since 1970s it's good to see such a wonderful musical tradition continuing with Stephen & Pernille flying the flag (should that be a joint Scottish-Danish one?) for quality entertainment."

Christine Aspinall, Stalybridge, UK

"We first saw Stephen at Oban about 4 years ago, since then at Fort William twice. He really is a brilliant act and has a wonderful personality. Really worth being seen by a greater audience."
Jim Kirby, Washington, Tyne & Wear

Whether it's solo or with the McCalmans, Stephen makes singing sound effortless. What a voice. one of my favourites for singing along in the car!'

Vince Morley, Stoke on Trent, England

'We saw Stephen again,on 22nd Aug. for I think the fifth time, at the Tarbet Hotel on Loch Lomond. He is still just about the best live act around and we hope to see him many more times on our weekends to Scotland'

Jim Kirby, Wahington, UK

'I saw Stephen at the Fife Arms Hotel last night and was very impressed. I went away for the weekend with my sister who has health problems. I assumed the entertainment would not be very good for some reason, but stayed after dinner to watch Stephen as my sister wanted to. I have to say I had a great night, I enjoyed the songs very much and really laughed so, so much at the humour. So thanks very much. I will certainly keep and eye open for Stephen and tell others how good he is.'

Tricia Gray

'Hi Stephen,
My husband and I saw you in Port Patrick several years ago. We loved the show and think about you often. We still love listening to the cassette we got at the time. I'm happy to find you here and glad of the schedule. I hope that we can manage to make it to one or more of your gigs.
Thanks,'

Carolyn Paton, Prestwick, Scotland

'Just back from Fort William, we stayed at the Caledonian Hotel this week and you were the best of the evenings' entertainment by a million miles.

Not only was it good to see someone else under the age of 97 we were delighted by your performance. A great evening of songs seamlessly linked by brilliantly funny anecdotes and chat.

Well done mate hopefully we see you again sometime.'
Gerry Wilson, Glasgow

'Many thanks Stephen and also Nick for a superb evening's entertainment at
Cannich Hall (25/07/11). Hope to see you next year!
'

Jim McAuley, Cannich

'Just came back from a weekend in Braemar where we once again saw Stephen perform. If it is possible he gets better and better. We took some friends along who had not seem him perform and they are now fans. Not only was he brilliant but like a true gentleman he took the time to have a chat with us. We will be watching out for another venue where we can go and see him again. Well done Stephen and we love your CD'

Carol Barrett, Blyth, Northumberland

'Hi
another great night at Parkgate - didn't you and Nick have someone else play with you before?

It was a very receptive audience

I was looking for a guestbook item on your joint net issue but you haven't got round to it yet - this would let your supporters comment on the fact that the good music from you and Nick continues even though Ian has departed to the golf course

Ken Bruce on BBC Radio 2 played a record this morning that had someone murdering "Caledonia" - you will need to send him a CD on how it should be sung

Waiting to see you 2012 programme

George & Jane

Jane felt great on hearing Nick sing Mothers, daughters wives? - if he is still compiling his CD he should include that one'

George Pitblado, Dunfermline

'Kan varmt anbefale Stephen til en aften med skotsk musik.
Stephen har spillet for os her i "Hesselbo" - og det var bare top for alle.
Can highly recommend Stephen for an evening of Scottish music.
Stephen has played for us here in "Hesselbo" - and it was just top of all.'

I haven't had the chance to hear you live as The Quiggs, but I've enjoyed the recordnings that I've heard. I have attended several concerts while you played with The McCalmans, and I can only say that you blend tradition and renewal in a way that ensures that folk music is still very much alive. Thank you and good luck!

Leif Olsen, Bornholm, Denmark

"I saw your performance in Denmark on the 2nd of August at Poppel Garden, I have never seen McCalmans live before, but now I'm sure I'm going to see you again. I was really impressed by your voice and lyrics, so I went straight to buy two of your CD's, the newest McCalman album and your newest solo album. Just wanted to tell you that I think its great! Thanks for a great performance and the great music, I'll go see you again some day. Happy gigs."
Christian Kammann, Denmark

''I saw the McCalmans at the Glenfarg Folk Feast last month, and as usual they were brilliant. Steven Quigg has been able to add his own style and personality to the mix in a very seamless manner. I still not have seen him as a solo performer, but I have a couple of his CD's which are excellent , so I will be on the lookout for him in the future."
Ron Young - Aberfeldy

'Just thought I'd put in black and white what we always say to you after a gig. Thoroughly enjoyed the latest McCalmans gig at Stirling Folk club recently although we first came across yourself at the Dunfermline Folk Club a long time before. We were of course hoarse singing along to the now favourite songs. I must say your musicianship is beyond compare. And we will keep asking for more Central Scotland dates!'
Jan Geary, Bonnybridge, Scotland

'A cracking new Website, well designed with good info and easy to follow.'
Colin Hay, Dalgety Bay Folk Club

'Really enjoyed your gig at the Fife Arms Hotel in Braemar on 12th October. It was an excellent performance and the CD 'Highlands Tomorrow' was well worth the money too. Hopefully get the chance to see you in concert again soon,

Cheers!'

Fraser MacDonald, Scotland

'Hi stephen, This week-end I am going to visit the " Scotsman Pub " in Oslo Norway where you and I performed 30 years ago.

It will be interesting to see if " the Lowlanders " are still remembered.

Best wishes'

Alec Bingham, Bolton, Lancashire

'We saw Stephen in the Caledonian Hotel in Fort William at Hogmanay 2008,what a great experience, what a funny guy a brilliant performer, and a great voice very passionate about music,to sum it up a very enjoyable evening by a great artist,we bought a cd on the night and are now enjoying it as I type.'
Terry Dolan, Mid Calder, Scotland

'we were so happy when we saw you advertised at the hotel we were staying in In Dunoon last week then bitterly disappointed when we were told you were away on holiday guess we will just have to come back to see you soon. Have bought one of your CD's to make up for it. Thanks for great music.'

Colin Prow, Northumberland, England

'When we were on holiday in Scotland in July, 1993, we wondered in to a hotel in Granton-on-Spey and heard you perform. It was one of those unexpected, unplanned events that we've often talked about over the years. We bought a cd (Songs of My Island) that night and still love it. Think of all the memories you've created for so many people over the years. Thank you.'

Robbie Francis, Calgary, Canada

'I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed both seeing Stephen playing with The McCalmans on 19th June at Dalgety Bay Folk Club and also listening to my latest purchase of Stephen's 'Highlands tomorrow' CD. Stephen's true, clear voice is a joy to listen to,his enthusiasm for his vocation is obvious & his talent is undeniable. I look forward to seeing him play again both on his own & with The McCalmans at the Edinburgh festival in August.'

Sheena Bethune, Livingston, Scotland

'I saw your show in hotel 'The Isles of Glencoe' in '92, bought your CD and used it as THE reference in Scottish Folk Music eversince. That year, I was 9 years old, and was playing the violin since 2 years. Now, 17 years later, I'm percussionist and violinist in a small, bar-and-free-festival-hopping Flemish folk-rockband. We would LOVE to play 'The Voice of My Island' as a tribute to Scottish folk music, on one of our next gigs.'
Thomas Buve, Antwerp, Belgium

'I first and last saw you in Mallaig town hall some years ago. I had never heard such a beatiful clear voice. And especially the surroundings, and Isle of Eigg: wonderful.
'

Christian Bokhove, Netherlands

'We have seen Stephen numerous times at various venues. Every time he doesn't dissapoint because of his wide repertoire of music and humour. We now plan our trips to Scotland to coincide with his gigs. Give yourself a treat and go and see this great entertainer!'

'Went to Fort William again with my son Lewis and my mam , I thought stephen
couldnt get better as it was my 3rd time....how wrong I was , my mam said " this
was good and how well he explained what the songs were about , FANTASTIC ". My
son Lewis was loving it again, and again you made my son so welcome, thats why
people come back to see you, they genuinely love you and your music. What a "
wife " you have a top, top singer and you too. See you next year and thanks
again .'
Omar Gorstridge, Mansfield, Notts, England

'hello Stephen,

nice to meet you again at Pottegaarden in Odsherred this August. Hope to see you again next year. I am very keen on Scottish/Irish folk music and I am trying very hard to learn the guitar playing. Very difficult at my age (69 years). But I keep on practising the singing and guitar playing. I have been to your concert there about 3-4 times before. I liked very much your music.

Kind regards'
Lilian Andersen, Denmark

'we saw Stephen in Portpatrick last week 08/12/2011 he was brilliant, all the songs seemed to be sung from the heart.
Very entertaining, witty comments and created a good atmosphere in a very small room all the guests seemed to enjoy the evening. Just bought music from itunes, don't have a CD player but do have an ipod. Keep up the good work and have a very happy christmas with your family, all the best for 2012, to everyone.'

Irene Gibbons, Stockport, England

We met in the late eighties or early nineties when my wife and I were touring Scotland, apparently two days behind you all the way, until we managed to catch up with your gig at the Ceileidh Place in Oban! It was a great gig and we have been great admirers of your work ever since.'

Eric Ramage, Godalming

We saw you for the second time tonight, ( July 25th 2013), at Pitlochry Hydro
Hotel.
Had a fantastic evening. Looking forward to listening to the new cd's. Thank you
