"We first saw Stephen at Oban about
4 years ago, since then at Fort William twice. He really is a brilliant act and has a wonderful
personality. Really worth being seen by a greater audience." Whether it's solo or with the McCalmans, Stephen makes singing sound effortless.
What a voice. one of my favourites for singing along in the car!' "I would like to say that the music you play and sing are very enjoyable.
I received 1 album a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it . As your albums are not available
I will be sending for more records 'Enjoyed the gig at Glenfarg last month. Bought your latest CD, Silver Sands.
Excellent as usual. Keep up the good work.' "First saw your show in Oban in 1996. I am pleased to say that Zelda and I have
been fans since then. We have missed you for the last two or three years when we have been in Scotland
but we hope to catch up in August. We are touring this year for a change so, thanks to the gig
list, I will be able to plan better. Hope to see you soon. 'New site is excellent Stephen.
I'll try and phone you soon' 'Hi Stephen, You got me in trouble last time i was up in Dunoon I told the passengers that they were in for a treat seeing you perform............Guess what you were away on tour and your replacement was not to their liking ! See you soon' Ian Bott, David Urquhart driver, Leicester
Hope to see you again soon. Will buy a CD am now a fan!!' Fiona Mudie, Dalkeith, Scotland
'First saw SQ at the Ballachulish Hotel in February 1992 the night before the 300th anniversary of the Glencoe massacre and have been a fan ever since. I even bought my own Bodhrán and I still can’t play the damn thing.' Rob Nicholls, Tamworth, England 'Was at your gig in the Tarbet Hotel last night with friends from Wales. We all thoroughly enjoyed your music, your singing and your fun. Thank you for making it a good evening. After the gig I bought the Highlands Tomorow CD and played it in the car this morning - brilliant. 'Thanks to you and rest of McCalmans for a great evening in Baghuset, Ballerup, DK on march 6th. 2009. 'We enjoyed your show at the Glenmorag Hotel on Tuesday evening and thanks for the dedication 'Caledonia'. Jill and David Stevens, Newton Aycliffe Joe Cassidy (decorator), Scotland 'It is years since we have been in Oban but the one lasting memory is Stephen Quigg playing at our hotel. He is still one of our most played CDs. Thank you'
Jim Kirby, Wahington, UK 'I saw Stephen at the Fife Arms Hotel last night and was very impressed. I went away for the weekend with my sister who has health problems. I assumed the entertainment would not be very good for some reason, but stayed after dinner to watch Stephen as my sister wanted to. I have to say I had a great night, I enjoyed the songs very much and really laughed so, so much at the humour. So thanks very much. I will certainly keep and eye open for Stephen and tell others how good he is.' Tricia Gray |
"I saw your performance in Denmark
on the 2nd of August at Poppel Garden, I have never seen McCalmans live before, but now I'm
sure I'm going to see you again. I was really impressed by your voice and lyrics, so I went
straight to buy two of your CD's, the newest McCalman album and your newest solo album. Just
wanted to tell you that I think its great! Thanks for a great performance and the great music,
I'll go see you again some day. Happy gigs." ''I saw the McCalmans at the Glenfarg Folk Feast last month, and as usual
they were brilliant. Steven Quigg has been able to add his own style and personality to the
mix in a very seamless manner. I still not have seen him as a solo performer, but I have a
couple of his CD's which are excellent , so I will be on the lookout for him in the future." 'Just thought I'd put in black and white what we always say to you after a
gig. Thoroughly enjoyed the latest McCalmans gig at Stirling Folk club recently although we
first came across yourself at the Dunfermline Folk Club a long time before. We were of course
hoarse singing along to the now favourite songs. I must say your musicianship is beyond compare.
And we will keep asking for more Central Scotland dates!' 'A cracking new Website, well
designed with good info and easy to follow.' 'Really enjoyed your gig at the Fife Arms Hotel in Braemar on 12th October. It was an excellent performance and the CD 'Highlands Tomorrow' was well worth the money too. Hopefully get the chance to see you in concert again soon, Cheers!' Fraser MacDonald, Scotland 'Hi stephen, This week-end I am going to visit the " Scotsman Pub " in Oslo Norway where you and I performed 30 years ago. It will be interesting to see if " the Lowlanders " are still remembered. Best wishes' Alec Bingham, Bolton, Lancashire 'We saw Stephen in the Caledonian Hotel in Fort William at Hogmanay 2008,what a great experience, what a funny guy a brilliant performer, and a great voice very passionate about music,to sum it up a very enjoyable evening by a great artist,we bought a cd on the night and are now enjoying it as I type.' 'we were so happy when we saw you advertised at the hotel we were staying in In Dunoon last week then bitterly disappointed when we were told you were away on holiday guess we will just have to come back to see you soon. Have bought one of your CD's to make up for it. Thanks for great music.' Colin Prow, Northumberland, England 'When we were on holiday in Scotland in July, 1993, we wondered in to a hotel in Granton-on-Spey and heard you perform. It was one of those unexpected, unplanned events that we've often talked about over the years. We bought a cd (Songs of My Island) that night and still love it. Think of all the memories you've created for so many people over the years. Thank you.' Robbie Francis, Calgary, Canada
Sheena Bethune, Livingston, Scotland 'I saw your show in hotel 'The Isles of Glencoe' in '92, bought your CD and used it as THE reference in Scottish Folk Music eversince. That year, I was 9 years old, and was playing the violin since 2 years. Now, 17 years later, I'm percussionist and violinist in a small, bar-and-free-festival-hopping Flemish folk-rockband. We would LOVE to play 'The Voice of My Island' as a tribute to Scottish folk music, on one of our next gigs.'
Christian Bokhove, Netherlands 'We have seen Stephen numerous times at various venues. Every time he doesn't dissapoint because of his wide repertoire of music and humour. We now plan our trips to Scotland to coincide with his gigs. Give yourself a treat and go and see this great entertainer!' John and Cath Carhart, Durham, England |
